Aïssata Tall Sall urges opposition unity at Taxawu Sénégal congress

The founding congress of Taxawu Sénégal, led by Khalifa Sall, served as a platform for Aïssata Tall Sall to deliver a powerful political address. Her speech was characterized by sharp criticism of the current administration and a rallying cry for opposition forces to stand united.

The former minister did not mince her words when addressing the ruling power, declaring: « These individuals have already shown they do not respect the law. They are not rulers by right—they are not sovereigns. » Her remarks underscored the urgent need for a strategic and cohesive opposition movement.

Aïssata Tall Sall emphasized the importance of political resilience and collective action, stating: « Hold your heads high. Courage is essential—and you possess it. Intelligence is essential—and you embody it. But strategy? Strategy is the lifeblood of politics. And for Senegal, we need a strategy that is both serious and forward-thinking. »

Looking ahead to upcoming elections, she outlined a phased approach to building momentum, asserting: « When the time comes—after local elections, after legislative polls—insha’Allah, we will demonstrate our strength. And when presidential elections arrive, we will show what we are made of. »

In a final message to activists, she conveyed unwavering support, saying: « I wish you luck, send you my prayers, and affirm that you stand where you belong—side by side with your comrades. We will stand with you, and together, we will seize this power. »
