N’Djamena — The Algerian Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, has commenced a significant official visit to the Republic of Chad, as mandated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This diplomatic mission underscores the deepening commitment between Algeria and Chad to fortify fraternal bonds, expand cooperation, and strengthen partnership initiatives.
Accompanying the Prime Minister are key figures including the Minister of State in charge of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, and the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation and Solidarity, Mr. Abed Hallouz. Additionally, representatives from national companies specializing in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity are part of the delegation.
Arrival and welcome ceremony in N’Djamena
Upon landing at the international airport of N’Djamena, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb was warmly received by Chad’s Prime Minister, Mr. Allamaye Halina, alongside a delegation of Chadian government officials and high-ranking representatives. The ceremonial welcome set the stage for productive discussions aimed at reviewing the progress of bilateral relations and identifying avenues to further elevate cooperation between the two nations.
Strengthening strategic partnerships
The visit included a bilateral working session where both leaders explored ways to enhance existing collaboration. Key topics included reviewing the distinguished trajectory of Algerian-Chadian relations and exploring new opportunities to broaden cooperation across multiple sectors. The discussions reflected a shared vision to elevate the partnership to new heights, serving the mutual interests of both brotherly peoples.
Laying the foundation for a 40-megawatt solidarity power plant
A highlight of the visit was the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 40-megawatt solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. This project, to be executed by Sonelgaz International, is a gift from Algeria to Chad, embodying the Algerian government’s dedication to fostering sustainable development across African nations. The initiative aligns with President Tebboune’s directives to support African development through impactful, long-term projects that drive economic and social progress.
Consultations with Chad’s President
Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb also held consultations with Chad’s President, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, focusing on strategies to reinforce the Algerian-Chadian partnership. The discussions extended to regional and pan-African issues of mutual interest, emphasizing Algeria’s role in promoting stability and development across the continent.
