Following a day of considerable uncertainty on Sunday, initiated by military personnel appearing on national television to declare President Patrice Talon’s overthrow, the president himself confirmed later that evening that the situation was “totally under control.”
While the search continues for several individuals involved in the foiled coup attempt in Benin this past Sunday, and they remain at large, all those held hostage, including senior military officers, have been successfully released. This development comes as the broader region initiates efforts to provide various forms of assistance, particularly military support.
