Benin’s CCI approves 2027 budget: 6.6 billion FCFA, 2.1 billion for investment
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin (CCI Benin) held its second ordinary session on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Cotonou, where it examined and voted on its 2027 draft budget. The total envelope stands at 6.6 billion FCFA, with 2.1 billion FCFA allocated to investments.
The supervisory authority is demanding transparent execution of these 2.1 billion FCFA and aims to reduce operational costs in favor of investment. The Minister of Interior Trade and Formalization of the Economy, Alimatou Shadiya Assouman, also called for improved collection of Chamber dues in coordination with the General Directorate of Taxes.
The government expects measurable results in the formalization of activities and job creation. According to the roadmap presented to the consular elected officials, CCI’s actions must prioritize small traders, young entrepreneurs, and women processors.
The territorial dimension is also part of the requirements set for the institution. The Chamber is expected to extend its interventions to all 77 communes of Benin, beyond the main economic hubs, to bring its services closer to businesses and local economic actors.
The President of CCI Benin, Arnauld Akakpo, assured that the institution would leverage its territorial network and expertise to serve the formalization and modernization of domestic trade. He presented the Chamber as a bridge between public policies and the daily needs of businesses.
The draft budget was examined and voted on by the Consular Assembly during this second ordinary session. The program allocates 6.6 billion FCFA for the 2027 fiscal year, with 2.1 billion FCFA directed toward investments and expected coverage across all 77 communes.
