Three nations in Central Africa have joined forces to revolutionize regional trade through a landmark digitalization agreement. The Bureau national de fret terrestre du Tchad (BNFT), alongside counterparts from Cameroun and the Central African Republic, formalized a commitment to digitize key trade corridors by 2030.
a strategic move to modernize logistics
This pact aims to streamline cargo transport and transit processes, cutting through bureaucratic bottlenecks. By digitizing transit procedures, the initiative seeks to enhance efficiency, security, and reliability in cross-border trade. The collaboration reflects a broader push to align Central Africa’s infrastructure with global digital standards.
key benefits highlighted by leaders
The BNFT’s Director General, Saleh Youssouf Erda, emphasized the pact’s significance in today’s digitally driven economy. “This agreement marks a pivotal step toward modern logistics. In an era where digital transformation dictates progress, we’re prioritizing seamless, secure, and swift trade operations.”
A senior representative from the Central African Republic’s Ministry of Transport echoed this sentiment, noting the agreement’s role in curbing administrative delays. “Digitizing these corridors will drastically reduce wait times while reinforcing cargo protection—a cornerstone of trust in regional trade.”
regional integration and economic growth
The pact aligns with ongoing efforts to deepen economic ties across Central Africa. By optimizing transit routes, the initiative is poised to lower trade costs, attract investment, and foster sustainable development. Governments envision a future where digital tools eliminate inefficiencies, positioning the subregion as a competitive trade hub.
