Psg explores russian market with two new transfer targets

The 2024 summer transfer window at Paris Saint-Germain began with an unexpected move: the arrival of goalkeeper Matvey Safonov from Krasnodar for around €20 million. Though initially seen as a backup to Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Russian shot-stopper has since outperformed Lucas Chevalier—who cost €55 million including bonuses—and is now set to start in goal for the Ligue 1 club against Arsenal in the Champions League final on May 30, pending any injuries.

Luis Campos turns attention to Russian talent pool

The success of Safonov’s adaptation has prompted PSG sporting director Luis Campos to explore further opportunities in Russia. One name repeatedly surfacing is that of Aleksey Batrakov, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder who has delivered 17 goals and 12 assists in 35 league appearances for Lokomotiv Moscow this season. Sources close to Batrakov confirm that Campos or his representatives have already made contact with the player’s agency, with discussions reportedly taking place in Moscow. Vladimir Kuzmichev, the player’s agent, recently stated: « I have information that he or one of his closest collaborators will travel to the capital to finalize talks primarily with the club. »

Kislyak emerges as another potential PSG signing

Matvey Kislyak, a 20-year-old central midfielder at CSKA Moscow, is also on PSG’s radar. The Russian international—with nine caps and one goal to his name—has already contributed six goals and six assists in 28 league matches this season. His profile aligns closely with Luis Enrique’s tactical preferences, and his recruitment could serve as a strategic alternative should Lee Kang-in depart. With his contract running until 2029, Kislyak remains a key target for the Ligue 1 side.
