In a significant stride toward modernizing vocational and technical education, Chad’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena. The event centered on validating a groundbreaking field analysis report, a critical step before finalizing the country’s first-ever National Strategy for Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by UNESCO, the International Organisation of La Francophonie, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the UN Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA programme. Its goal is to architect a sustainable digital overhaul of Chad’s technical and vocational training landscape. The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and oversight bodies, spanning field missions and comprehensive digital data collection across all national academies.

Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, opened the workshop on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional but a strategic necessity to align education systems with rapid technological change and emerging career demands. The Government of Chad is positioning digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET programs nationwide.
The validated report highlights critical progress while exposing substantial hurdles. Key challenges include governance inefficiencies, underdeveloped digital infrastructure, unreliable connectivity, energy supply gaps, inadequate instructor training, and insufficient integration of digital competencies into curricula. Dr. Gabriel urged stakeholders to refine the document, ensuring the final strategy is pragmatic, inclusive, and responsive to Chad’s unique socio-economic realities.

With the report now endorsed, it will serve as the foundation for developing the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan for 2026–2030. The vision: a robust, future-ready technical education system that meets labor market demands and equips Chadian youth with the skills needed in a digital economy.
