Chad’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a national validation workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, to review the ground-level assessment report for the upcoming National Strategy on Digital Transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The session brought together key stakeholders to refine and endorse a document that will underpin the country’s future digitalization policy for TVET programs.
The initiative, part of the Pan-African TVET Digital Transformation Plan—supported by UNESCO, the International Organisation of La Francophonie, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program—aims to modernize Chad’s technical and vocational education sustainably. The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and supervisory bodies, collecting insights through field missions and digital surveys across all national academies.
Dr Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, opened the session on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation has become a strategic priority to align training systems with technological advancements and evolving job markets. The Government intends to leverage digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET.
The analysis highlights significant progress alongside critical challenges, including governance inefficiencies, inadequate digital infrastructure, connectivity gaps, unreliable power supply, trainer proficiency, and the integration of digital competencies into curricula. Gabriel urged participants to enhance the report to ensure the final strategy is practical, inclusive, and reflective of Chad’s unique context.
Once validated, the report will serve as the foundation for the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan spanning 2026-2030. The goal is to equip Chad with a state-of-the-art, high-performing TVET system that meets labor market demands.
