In a landmark move to modernize its technical and vocational education system, Chad’s Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026. The event focused on validating a comprehensive diagnostic report, laying the groundwork for the country’s National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Key stakeholders from the sector gathered to review, enhance, and endorse the document, which will serve as the blueprint for the future digitalization policy of Chad’s TVET programs.
A collaborative effort to reshape education
This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for the Digital Transformation of TVET systems, backed by major continental and international bodies including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The pre-strategy assessment engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) and supporting institutions across all of Chad’s academic regions. Through a combination of on-site assessments and digital data collection, the study provided a nationwide snapshot of the current state of TVET infrastructure and digital readiness.
Digital education as a national priority
Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation has become a strategic imperative for aligning Chad’s educational systems with evolving technological demands and emerging career fields. The government views digitalization as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET, ensuring graduates are equipped with skills that meet labor market needs.
Dr. Gabriel highlighted that the diagnostic report reveals both progress and critical gaps in governance, digital infrastructure, connectivity, power supply, instructor training, and the integration of digital competencies into curricula. He urged attendees to contribute their insights to refine the document, ensuring the final strategy is practical, inclusive, and responsive to Chad’s unique challenges.

With the validated report now serving as the foundation, Chad is poised to develop a robust National Strategy for Digital TVET Transformation. The plan, set for implementation from 2026 to 2030, outlines actionable steps to build a modern, high-performing technical education system. The overarching goal is to create a workforce ready to thrive in a technology-driven economy, bridging the gap between education and industry.
