The Chadian government has launched a renewed offensive against human trafficking, targeting particularly vulnerable groups such as women and children. This crackdown comes through the strict application of existing laws and reinforced coordination between judicial and security authorities.

Human trafficking remains a severe violation of human rights, often involving heinous acts such as sexual exploitation and forced labor. Chad, a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, has strengthened its legal arsenal with key legislation, including Ordinance No. 006/PR/2018 and Law No. 12/PR/2018.

Enhanced enforcement measures

To ensure rapid and effective intervention, authorities have been instructed to conduct swift investigations, file formal reports, and transfer cases to competent courts without delay. All documented cases must be systematically reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission against Human Trafficking for rigorous follow-up and monitoring.

Provincial oversight and national strategy

Provincial delegates have been tasked with overseeing the strict implementation of these directives. This coordinated effort aims to establish a comprehensive national database, laying the groundwork for a robust and evidence-based anti-trafficking policy in Chad.
