President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno of Chad dispatched a significant diplomatic delegation to Yaoundé on Friday, July 17, 2026. The purpose of this high-level mission was to deliver a personal communication to his Cameroonian counterpart, President Paul Biya.
Leading this distinguished group was Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad. He was joined by Mahamat Saleh Abdeldjelil, Special Advisor to the Head of State; Fatima Haram Acyl, Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Geology; and Hassan Adoum Younousmi, Director General of the Telecommunications Sector Regulatory Agency (ARSAT).

While President Biya was abroad, the Chadian delegation was warmly received at the illustrious Etoudi Palace by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Presidency of Cameroon.
Although the precise contents of the presidential message remain confidential, the head of the Chadian delegation emphasized that this diplomatic initiative underscored the exceptional relationship shared by the two heads of state, as well as the Chadian and Cameroonian populations. He further elaborated that the visit demonstrated the unwavering commitment of both nations’ highest authorities to deepen their cooperation and sustain continuous dialogue on matters of mutual concern.

Beyond the primary objective of delivering the presidential message, discussions extended to exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation across various strategic sectors vital to both the Chadian and Cameroonian economies. Key areas of focus included strengthening partnerships in economic development, energy resources, and critical infrastructure, all within a broader context of advancing sub-regional integration.
This diplomatic mission serves as a testament to the long-standing, privileged relationship that N’Djamena and Yaoundé have cultivated over several decades. It vividly illustrates both states’ dedication to maintaining a consistent framework for consultation and fortifying the profound historical, political, and economic bonds that unite these two neighboring nations.
