Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – A two-day forum on vocational training, the FIMEC 2026, is set to take place in Abidjan from July 15-16 under the theme ‘Competences, Employment and Economic Transformation in Africa: The Strategic Role of Vocational Training’
The event, organised by the National Agency for Vocational Training (AGEFOP), aims to make vocational training a key strategic tool for employment, competitiveness, and sustainable development in Côte d’Ivoire.
With over 80 million dollars mobilised from international partners to support the implementation of the 2026-2030 Development Plan, the development of skills is seen as a crucial condition to transform these investments into inclusive growth, durable jobs, and shared prosperity.
The forum will bring together government officials, ambassadors, international organisation representatives, technical and financial partners, entrepreneurs, researchers, experts, and vocational training professionals for high-level panel discussions, masterclasses, technical workshops, skill demonstrations, and business-to-learning exchange spaces.
Participants will focus on addressing challenges such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, green skills, soft skills, and changing job roles to better prepare young people, workers, and businesses for the evolving labour market landscape.
The event will also showcase inspiring stories of women and men who have benefited from vocational training, highlighting its role in enhancing employability, entrepreneurship, and aligning skills with business needs.
