Endeavour mining boosts Côte d’Ivoire’s economy with FCFA 1.7 trillion contribution

Cocody, 29 June 2026 — Endeavour Mining has unveiled its Country Impact Report 2021-2025, highlighting a landmark contribution of FCFA 1.71 trillion to Côte d’Ivoire’s economy over five years. The report, titled Building Tangible Value, was presented at the company’s headquarters in Abidjan, detailing the transformative role of its Ity and Lafigué gold mines in driving sustainable growth.

Gold mining as a driver of national prosperity

According to Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara, Vice President of Public Affairs and Country Director for Endeavour in Côte d’Ivoire, the Ity and Lafigué operations have positioned gold mining as a catalyst for lasting development. Between 2021 and 2025, the company channelled FCFA 644 billion into state coffers through taxes, royalties and dividends. This financial infusion included FCFA 398 billion in taxes, FCFA 149 billion in royalties and FCFA 97 billion in dividends, underscoring the mines’ critical role in public revenue.

The group also invested FCFA 904 billion in procuring goods and services from local suppliers, reinforcing Côte d’Ivoire’s industrial fabric. With a workforce of over 1,350 employees—94% of whom are Ivorian—and partnerships with 4,390 service providers and 600 local vendors, Endeavour stands as the nation’s top gold producer and a major contributor to its fiscal health.

Empowering communities through health, education and infrastructure

Healthcare initiatives reached more than 120,000 people, including free medical consultations and treatments via mobile health caravans. Nearly 4,000 individuals benefited from these services, while 64 cataract surgeries were performed at no cost. Dr Youssouf Koné, Health Department Director for Zouan-Hounien, praised the partnership with Endeavour for strengthening malaria control efforts in communities near the Ity mine.

Education and youth development were also prioritised. Over 4,000 children and young adults participated in educational programmes, while 842 students completed internships. Flagship initiatives such as Élites de Demain, Jeunes Filles en Scolarité and Pépites d’Or provided skills training and academic support, preparing the next generation for future opportunities.

The company invested FCFA 2.8 billion in community infrastructure, delivering 71 water and safety projects, rehabilitating 16 roads serving 360,000 people, and launching 10 rural electrification schemes. Additionally, 1,000 driver’s licences were issued to enhance youth employability.

Fostering economic inclusion and environmental stewardship

Endeavour’s commitment to inclusive growth extended to economic empowerment. Through 284 income-generating initiatives—valued at FCFA 487 million—over 3,000 individuals, particularly women and youth, gained access to vocational training and microfinance opportunities. The N’Goto Yetehe programme, for example, trained 63 young people in eight trades at Lafigué.

Environmental stewardship was equally central to the company’s operations. Over the five-year period, Endeavour planted 158,000 trees and restored 199 hectares of degraded land. Collaborations with schools under the Un enfant, un arbre initiative and reforestation projects with the SODEFOR agency added 125 hectares of protected forest. A Zero Plastic strategy further slashed single-use plastic waste by 99%, eliminating over 1.3 million bottles in three years.

A model of responsible mining

The Country Impact Report 2021-2025 was unveiled during a gathering in Ity and Lafigué, attended by local leaders, administrative authorities, traditional chiefs and representatives from youth, women’s groups and mining oversight committees. The report underscores Endeavour’s pledge to transparent, trust-based partnerships that deliver shared progress across Côte d’Ivoire.
