Gabon has successfully garnered over 524 billion FCFA from international financial markets, sending a powerful message of confidence to foreign investors. Marking its re-entry into this pivotal market, the nation, under the decisive leadership of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, executed this significant operation. The funds are earmarked for settling outstanding debt obligations and advancing crucial development initiatives within the energy and water sectors.
Driven by a commitment to fiscal realism and adherence to the guidelines set forth in the revised finance law (LFR) 2026, the government is actively pursuing an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (FMI). A primary objective is to enhance the daily lives of Gabonese households. This financial endeavor has garnered widespread acclaim, both within Gabon and from the international community.
Fernando Gimenez, a principal economist at Promeritum, lauded the successful placement of the eurobond. He conveyed his congratulations, stating, “On behalf of Promeritum, I extend my felicitations to you and your team for the successful eurobond placement. The market’s highly favorable reception stands as a testament to this achievement. We particularly valued the transparency maintained throughout the process, your readiness to address our inquiries, and your willingness to consider the observations we presented during our meeting.”
Gone are the days of uncertainty and hesitation; Gabon is now firmly on a path defined by methodical planning and strategic execution. As a pivotal member of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (Cémac), our nation reaffirms its ability to attract international markets. This success stems from an approach centered on providing robust assurances to both investors and financial partners.
