Collective leadership takes shape at PPA-CI under Laurent Gbagbo’s guidance
Former Ivorian Head of State and PPA-CI President Laurent Gbagbo has unveiled a significant restructuring of his party’s leadership. In an official announcement, he detailed the appointment of six key figures to key positions, including four vice-presidents and a Chairman of the Strategic and Political Council (CSP), each tasked with distinct responsibilities to enhance the party’s operational efficiency.
New vice-presidents and their core mandates
The leadership reshuffle introduces a tiered structure designed to streamline decision-making and reinforce party cohesion. The appointments include:
- Assoa Adou, First Vice-President overseeing party doctrine: His role centers on ensuring strict adherence to the party’s statutes, internal regulations, and strategic alignment across all organizational levels.
- Oulaye Hubert, Second Vice-President responsible for party governance: He will preside over Central Committee sessions in accordance with the party’s legal framework and Gbagbo’s directives.
- Ackan Emmanuel, Third Vice-President tasked with party mobilization: His mission involves revitalizing political activities, expanding the party’s outreach, and managing institutional relations while aligning with the party’s political vision.
- Justin Koné Katinan, Fourth Vice-President in charge of general policy: He will oversee the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the party’s policy agenda, including government program development.
Strategic Council Chair appointed for operational oversight
Sébastien Dano Djedje has been named Chairman of the CSP, assuming delegated authority for the party’s overall management and strategic direction. This position grants him supervisory powers over the organization’s daily operations and policy execution.
Speaking on the restructuring, Gbagbo emphasized the shift toward a collegial leadership model, stating, « The strength of our party lies not in a single individual but in the collective effort of its leaders and activists united by a shared vision. » This move follows his May 16 declaration during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebration in Songon M’Bratté, where he first outlined plans to revitalize the party’s governance structure for improved functionality and impact.
By distributing key responsibilities among these six leaders, Gbagbo aims to foster a more dynamic, responsive, and unified party capable of advancing its political objectives with greater agility.
