Legal team denies allegations in Cameroun state services controversy
A sharp rebuttal has emerged from the legal representatives of Sani Mouhamadou, who categorically refute claims made by opposing counsel regarding a 2020 engagement with state institutions.
In a formal right of reply issued through his advocate, Me Mélissa Nyoth, Sani Mouhamadou dismissed assertions that his client had ever referenced Maxime Eko Eko in any public statement. The document—which was circulated widely on social platforms—addresses a press release dated August 9, 2026, in which opposing lawyers alleged that Sani Mouhamadou had named the Direction Générale de la Recherche Extérieure (DGRE) among Cameroonian state bodies that supposedly engaged his services and network in 2020.
In response, the legal team contends that the opposite occurred: that Maxime Eko Eko sought an audience with Sani Mouhamadou and proposed professional collaboration. They further claim that no verifiable credentials or official titles were ever presented to substantiate the engagement, leading the DGRE to terminate all discussions.
Sani Mouhamadou’s legal representatives have emphasized that their client’s original statement was issued solely to correct misinformation after unverified videos surfaced on July 24 and 25, 2026. They stress that his name was never associated with Maxime Eko Eko in that communication, suggesting the opposing side may have misunderstood the context.
To substantiate their position, they cite a documented exchange from February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, in which Maxime Eko Eko allegedly reached out to Sani Mouhamadou via messaging with an urgent request for assistance. This initial contact, they argue, confirms the timeline of events and the legitimacy of Sani Mouhamadou’s professional standing, bolstered by certification from the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale.
Following the circulation of the disputed August 9 communiqué, an informal mediation effort was initiated to resolve the matter amicably. However, no resolution was reached, prompting Sani Mouhamadou’s legal team to demand its immediate withdrawal within 48 hours. Failure to comply, they warn, will result in the presentation of evidence and the initiation of defamation proceedings, as the allegations—if maintained—constitute libel.
The response was formally issued from Yaoundé on August 10, 2026, by Me Mélissa Nyoth, an attorney admitted to the Barreau du Cameroun under matricule 2007084229.
