Mali convoy security: 940 trucks safely reach Bamako under FAMa escort

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) successfully completed a week-long security operation along the Kayes–Bamako corridor from June 23 to June 29, 2026, escorting 940 civilian trucks without major incidents.

Strategic coordination ensures smooth transit

Two FAMa detachments worked in tandem to secure the route. The first convoy departed Kayes on June 23 with 540 trucks heading toward Sandaré. At the same time, a second detachment mobilized from Diéma, linking up with the convoy and assuming responsibility for both the 540 trucks and additional vehicles stranded in Sandaré.

After consolidating at Diéma, the combined convoy grew to 940 civilian trucks. Under continuous FAMa protection, the fleet moved through Sebabougou, Kwala, Diédiéni, Kolokani, and Kati before reaching Bamako safely.

Sustained efforts for national mobility

This mission reflects the FAMa’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding critical transport routes. By ensuring secure passage for commercial traffic, the armed forces help maintain economic activity and uphold free movement across Mali.
