The Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, engaged in high-level discussions with Cheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, Head of the Kuwaiti Civil Aviation Authority, in Rabat to deepen bilateral aviation ties. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 29th General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, focused on strengthening air navigation safety and expanding cooperation between the two nations.
During the talks, Kayouh highlighted the long-standing friendship between Morocco and Kuwait, emphasizing the importance of reviving direct flights between Kuwait City and Casablanca. He confirmed that Royal Air Maroc is preparing to reinstate this route promptly, following the recent acquisition of new long-haul aircraft. This move aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother travel between the two countries.
Cheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah underscored the significance of increasing air traffic between Kuwait and Morocco, particularly in light of the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. The anticipated surge in tourist arrivals from the Gulf region and beyond was a key discussion point, with both sides exploring ways to accommodate this demand.
The assembly concluded with the election of new leadership for the Arab Civil Aviation Organization’s governing bodies for the 2026–2028 term, including the General Assembly, Executive Council, and technical committees. Additionally, Khalid Cherkaoui was appointed as the new Director-General of the organization.
