The Prime Minister of Algeria, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, was warmly received in Niamey by Niger’s President, General Abdourahamane Tiani. During the meeting, Mr. Ghrieb conveyed the fraternal greetings of Algeria’s President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening solidarity and cooperation ties with Niger.
Accelerating energy projects for shared development
The discussions centered on advancing bilateral cooperation, with both leaders reviewing progress on commitments made during President Tiani’s visit to Algeria in February. Key outcomes from the second session of the Algeria-Niger Joint High Commission, held in Niamey last March, were also assessed. President Tiani expressed deep appreciation for Algeria’s unwavering support, particularly the rapid realization of an electricity plant project—a testament to the strong bonds between the two nations and their shared vision for sustainable development.
A shining example of South-South cooperation
President Tiani praised the exceptional pace of bilateral projects, highlighting how Algeria-Niger relations serve as a model for South-South collaboration. He reiterated the shared determination to elevate this partnership, emphasizing mutual aspirations for deeper integration and progress.
Prime Minister Ghrieb commended the progress achieved in a short span, noting that both countries have entered a new phase of political commitment and practical implementation. This success stems from the strategic guidance of both leaders and their rigorous follow-up on agreed priorities.
Regional stability and economic integration in focus
Mr. Ghrieb underscored Algeria’s dedication to reinforcing bilateral cooperation across critical sectors, including energy, hydrocarbons, infrastructure, healthcare, education, digital technology, and transportation. He stressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of regional projects to bolster economic growth and integration.
The talks also addressed trade and economic cooperation, with both sides stressing the need to expedite strategic initiatives. They further discussed regional challenges, pledging to enhance bilateral coordination to bolster peace, security, and stability in West Africa.
