Rabat hosts vibrant celebration of renewed France-Morocco ties
A historic gathering of over 1,500 dignitaries marked the Bastille Day reception at the French Residence, underscoring strengthened bilateral cooperation.
Rabat witnessed a landmark diplomatic event on July 14, 2026, as the French Residence hosted a grand reception commemorating French National Day, drawing an elite assembly of 1,500 guests.
The evening commenced under the guidance of France’s Ambassador to Morocco, Philippe Lalliot, and his wife, Laurence Folliot Lalliot, who warmly welcomed attendees to the prestigious venue.
In his address, Ambassador Lalliot emphasized the revitalized nature of Franco-Moroccan relations, describing them as “a balanced partnership, rooted in mutual interests, modernized for contemporary challenges, and oriented toward future ambitions.”
Highlighting the human dimension of this alliance, he remarked, “This friendship is our shared legacy. It is our collective responsibility to nurture it, cultivate it, and ensure its growth.”
Reflecting on his tenure in Morocco, he praised the nation’s forward-thinking approach: “From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française—Morocco doesn’t just envision the future; it actively builds it, day by day.”
The event was graced by the presence of Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, who represented the government. The gathering also included a cross-section of Moroccan officials and foreign diplomats accredited in the Kingdom.
The celebration featured captivating performances by the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra and the renowned DJ Retro Cassetta, adding a dynamic cultural dimension to the evening.
