Antoine Assalé Tiémoko, the dynamic mayor of Tiassalé, a vibrant cosmopolitan city approximately 120 kilometers from Abidjan, has announced an exciting initiative: free communal transport services will be available on weekends for residents.
This pioneering measure is slated for implementation starting in late 2026, with an initial pilot phase to ensure smooth operation and maximum benefit for the community.
Mayor Assalé Tiémoko elaborated that this decision is rooted in a strategic approach to redistribute the commune’s growing resources. He highlighted the significant increase in municipal own-source funds, primarily from local taxes, which have surged from 24 million FCFA in 2019 to an impressive 91 million FCFA in 2025, with projections reaching 100 million FCFA by 2026.
The unprecedented announcement was made by the mayor on Friday, May 22, 2026, during the 11th annual accountability day held at the marriage hall in Tiassalé, marking a significant moment for local governance.
Beyond his role as a local leader, Assalé Tiémoko is also a respected journalist and serves as the president of the political movement ‘Aujourd’hui et demain, la Côte d’Ivoire’ (ADCI).
