World Vision Tchad Unveils Ambitious 2030 Strategy to Transform Child Lives
N’Djamena will serve as the epicenter of a transformative initiative as World Vision Tchad launches its groundbreaking 2026-2030 national strategy. The comprehensive plan targets 3.29 million children across the country, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable youth by 2030 through enhanced interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.
The strategy’s unveiling took place during a high-profile press conference at N’Djamena’s Résidence Hotel, bringing together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities. This landmark event marks a significant leap from previous strategic cycles, with ambitions expanded by 20% to address the pressing needs of Tchad’s youngest citizens.
The Nexus Approach: Bridging Humanitarian Aid, Development, and Peace
Carla Dominique Denizard, West Africa Regional Director for World Vision based in Dakar, characterized the new strategy as both “bold and innovative.” She emphasized the organization’s commitment to the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus approach, which strategically links emergency interventions with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts.
“Every child in Tchad deserves to experience life in its fullness,” Denizard stated, highlighting the critical role of strong partnerships, community mobilization, and integration of cultural and spiritual realities in achieving this vision. She noted that West and Central Africa’s most fragile contexts face compounded challenges including insecurity, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and mass population displacements.
The strategy aligns with continental and global frameworks including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, Sustainable Development Goals (specifically SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Tchad’s own Vision 2030. Key focal areas include human capital strengthening, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy enhancement through the Unlock Literacy program, and comprehensive child protection systems.
Concrete Priorities for a Brighter Future
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, described the strategy launch as “historic” for both the organization and Tchad’s children. “Our ambition is clear: to ensure that every child in Tchad not only survives but thrives,” he declared. The strategy prioritizes several critical areas:
- Integrated Nutrition and Health: Special emphasis on maternal and child health to combat persistent malnutrition challenges
- Education Revolution: Implementation of the Unlock Literacy program to develop foundational reading skills from early childhood education
- Child Protection: Comprehensive measures to safeguard children from all forms of violence and exploitation
- Climate Resilience: Strengthening community adaptation strategies to mitigate climate change impacts
With nearly 42% of Tchad’s population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified action is urgent. The strategy’s launch comes against a backdrop of recurrent humanitarian crises, climate-related disasters, and persistent social challenges that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
Call for Collective Action
World Vision Tchad has issued a powerful call to action following the strategy’s unveiling, urging all national stakeholders to unite in support of these ambitious goals. The organization is seeking collaboration with government authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to ensure the successful implementation of this transformative roadmap.
The collective mobilization aims to convert current challenges into sustainable opportunities that will benefit Tchad’s children for generations to come. Through this 2026-2030 strategy, World Vision Tchad commits to playing an active role in achieving the country’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, working toward a nation where every child is protected, well-nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
