Ousmane Sonko sought additional political funds, reveals Dr Abdourahmane Diouf

Dr Abdourahmane Diouf has brought to light an intriguing detail: Ousmane Sonko reportedly requested an increase in his political funds after exhausting his initial allocation. This disclosure casts a shadow of uncertainty over the origin of such critical information, which holds significant implications for the Senegalese political landscape.
The intense political rivalry between the Pastef party and Kiiraay shows no signs of abating. With no clear resolution in sight, a steady stream of revelations continues to emerge from both factions, each side presenting what it knows — or believes it knows — about the other.
The latest development comes from Abdourahmane Diouf, the current Minister of Petroleum and Energy. During a recent broadcast hosted by Migui Marième Ndiaye, Dr Diouf addressed the controversial secret funds amounting to 1.77 billion CFA francs that Ousmane Sonko managed during his tenure at the Primature. However, Dr Diouf’s comments extended beyond mere acknowledgement of these funds.
He explicitly stated that after depleting the allocated political funds, Ousmane Sonko allegedly sought an additional sum. A crucial question remains unanswered: whether this request was ultimately granted. More significantly, the origin of such sensitive information — assuming its veracity — continues to be a point of contention, as only two individuals would typically possess such knowledge: the President of the Republic and the Minister of Budget.
