Benin extends registration deadline for national civil engineers council

Who can register?

The extended registration period targets Beninese civil engineers holding recognized qualifications, including:

  • Engineering degrees in construction and public works
  • Specializations in geotechnics, transport infrastructure, hydraulics, energy systems, sanitation, and environmental engineering
  • Degrees in electronics, IT, and telecommunications

Eligible professionals must possess either a design engineer diploma, a professional master’s degree accredited by the Beninese state and CAMES, or an equivalent qualification.

Why the extension?

Minister Georges Alé emphasized that this grace period aligns with Article 65 of Decree No. 2021-300 of June 9, 2021, governing the civil engineering profession in Benin. The goal is to ensure comprehensive participation before the official establishment of the first National Order of Civil Engineers of Benin table.

Next steps

Engineers meeting the criteria are urged to submit their applications via the official platform onic.bj within the 30-day window. Compliance with this process is critical to finalizing the inaugural registry, paving the way for enhanced professional standards and regulatory oversight in Benin’s civil engineering sector.
