The Porto-Novo National Police Academy inaugurated a new cycle of preparatory training on May 14 for officers pursuing advanced credentials in security studies. The session targets candidates aiming for the Brevet d’Études Supérieures de Sécurité (BESS), the Diplôme d’État-Major des Forces de Sécurité (DEMES), and the Diplôme Spécial d’État-Major des Forces de Sécurité.

The opening ceremony brought together top officials from military, administrative, and academic sectors. High-profile attendees included the Inspector General of Police of the 2nd class and Director General of the Republican Police, Kokou Brice Allowanou, alongside the Academy’s director, Divisional Commissioner Gilles Yekpe.
Commissioner Yekpe outlined the program’s goals, stressing the need for officers to cultivate forward-thinking perspectives on national, regional, and global security challenges. “This cohort benefits from expert trainers—both national and international—along with a dedicated teaching team committed to your success,” he noted. “The curriculum covers policing strategy, human and operational resource management, command leadership, domestic security, and cross-border security operations.”
