Bénin has embarked on a significant overhaul of its national intelligence framework, establishing the General Directorate of Services (Dgs) to succeed the former Directorate of Liaison and Documentation (Dsld).

Continuity in leadership

Captain Orphée Hounkanrin, who previously led the Dsld, will retain his position at the helm of this revamped organization. While the specific achievements of the Dsld largely remain undisclosed to the public due to national security protocols, the decision to keep its former director in charge of the Dgs strongly indicates governmental approval of the agency’s past performance.
