The Beninese Senate has now established its first Bureau, marking a significant milestone in the constitutional installation of this legislative chamber. Following a vote held on August 6, 2026, in Porto-Novo, the newly elected senators appointed their leadership team to oversee the chamber’s operations.
Senate Bureau composition and roles
Patrice Talon has been elected as the Senate’s president, entrusted with guiding legislative proceedings and ensuring institutional efficiency. Louis Vlavonou has been appointed as vice-president, positioned to support the president and assume duties in case of absence or impediment.
Alassane Séidou has been assigned the role of rapporteur, responsible for documenting and presenting legislative reports, while Adidjatou Mathys has been named rapporteur suppléant, serving as an alternate in the rapporteur’s responsibilities.
