Benin taxi-moto drivers in Kétou to wear uniforms by july

The drivers of taxi-moto in Kétou are about to see their profession undergo a significant transformation. Starting soon, they will be required to wear uniforms while on duty. This new regulation, announced by local authorities, aims to enhance urban transport organization, improve passenger safety, and make driver identification easier.

Uniforms to be distributed after registration

The municipal administration has launched an enrollment drive to implement this reform. From July 6 to July 20, 2026, taxi-moto drivers in all six districts of Kétou will be invited to register at their local administrative offices. Each driver must present a valid ID to complete the process and qualify for the official uniform.

Only those who complete the registration and wear the designated uniform will be permitted to accept passengers after the deadline. The local government has emphasized that failure to comply will result in penalties under existing regulations.

Public urged to support the initiative

Residents are encouraged to actively support this initiative by choosing only licensed drivers wearing the official uniform. District chiefs, taxi-moto associations, and security services have been tasked with ensuring strict enforcement of the new rule.

The introduction of uniforms is part of a broader effort to modernize transportation in Benin and create a safer, more organized urban mobility system for all.
