On August 1, 2026, at midnight, Burkina Faso officially activated its innovative e-verbalisation system, designed to automatically detect traffic code violations. Just twelve hours later, Mahamadou Sana, the Minister of Security, personally observed the system’s remarkable efficiency. He visited the video protection supervision center at midday, where he monitored the real-time processing of infractions alongside Zakaria Hebie, the Director General of Transmissions and Information Technology.

Minister Sana extended his commendation to the dedicated technical teams, highlighting their professionalism and indispensable contribution to rolling out this groundbreaking digital solution. In its initial half-day of operation, the system registered an impressive 1,099 infractions. These included common violations such as failing to wear a seatbelt, disregarding traffic lights, exceeding the posted speed limit, and using a mobile phone while driving. Notably, five offenders promptly settled their fines using the FASO ARZEKA online platform.

Mahamadou Sana affirmed that these swift and tangible results unequivocally demonstrate the system’s operational readiness and underscore the government’s steadfast commitment to leveraging advanced digital technologies for significantly enhancing road safety across the nation. The ministry concurrently emphasized that strict adherence to the Highway Code remains the most effective and proactive measure for citizens to avoid incurring penalties and ensure safer roads for everyone.
