Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, Madagascar’s Head of State, recently concluded a significant visit to N’Djamena, Chad, with the primary objectives of fortifying bilateral relations and actively engaging the Malagasy diaspora. During his stay, a dedicated meeting brought together approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in Chad. The President of the Refoundation emphasized the crucial role of the diaspora, stating, « The diaspora represents a vital asset for Madagascar, and their valuable skills must be further recognized and utilized. »
Beyond these direct interactions, the official visit also aimed to invigorate economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. Discussions highlighted the importance of fostering the movement of expertise and sharing experiences as key mechanisms to bolster Madagascar’s influence and presence across the African continent.
A notable highlight of the visit’s agenda was Colonel Randrianirina’s participation in Chad’s 66th Independence Day celebrations, held yesterday in N’Djamena. He attended the festivities at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, and was joined by General Horta N’Tam, the President of Guinea-Bissau. The President of the Refoundation characterized this gathering as a prime opportunity to « strengthen intra-African cooperation. » He further revealed that « the Chadian President has expressed his readiness to visit Madagascar to engage in discussions and explore potential avenues for collaboration between the two nations. »
