Chad is taking robust measures to combat human trafficking, with a particular focus on protecting women and children. A new circular has been dispatched to security and judicial leaders, underscoring the urgency of this fight and outlining mandatory actions. Authorities are now required to conduct swift investigations, prepare detailed reports, and transfer all cases to competent courts without delay.

Human trafficking represents a severe breach of human rights, frequently involving sexual exploitation and forced labor. As a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, Chad has enacted critical legislation to address this issue, including Ordinance Nº006/PR/2018 and Law Nº12/PR/2018. These legal frameworks provide the foundation for dismantling trafficking networks and holding perpetrators accountable.

All cases must be reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Commission to Combat Human Trafficking for thorough monitoring. Provincial delegates have been tasked with ensuring strict adherence to these directives, paving the way for a comprehensive national database. This system will empower authorities to develop and implement a robust anti-trafficking strategy tailored to Chad’s unique challenges.
