Emmanuel Binyam backs Maurice Kamto’s leadership of Cameroon’s MRC amid internal discussions

Pierre Emmanuel Binyam, chair of Cameroon’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, has publicly reaffirmed the critical role Maurice Kamto should play in leading the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) at this pivotal moment.

Kamto’s leadership remains essential for Cameroon’s political future

Speaking on national television during an exclusive interview, Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addressed the ongoing discussions about Maurice Kamto’s potential return to the helm of the MRC. While acknowledging that Kamto may not be the sole figure capable of leading the party, he emphasized that the current political climate demands Kamto’s leadership.

«There is more than one person capable of leading the MRC, yet in the current circumstances, we need Maurice Kamto,» Binyam stated during the program. He went on to dismiss rumors of internal opposition to Kamto’s potential return, stressing that no formal debate has been initiated regarding his leadership.

«Regarding discussions about Maurice Kamto’s return, I made it clear: these claims are unfounded. No governing body has opened such a debate. On the contrary, multiple motions have been submitted urgently requesting his return,» he explained.

Solidarity within the MRC grows stronger

Binyam’s remarks come at a time when the MRC faces both internal and external challenges. His endorsement of Kamto’s leadership appears to reflect a growing consensus within the party’s ranks, as grassroots movements continue to rally behind the former presidential candidate.

As Cameroon navigates its political landscape, the MRC’s direction remains a topic of national conversation. Binyam’s statements signal confidence in Kamto’s ability to reunite and revitalize the party during this critical period.
