A high-level security meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at the Lyon Prefecture. The purpose: to finalize comprehensive security protocols and ensure seamless coordination among all stakeholders ahead of the critical UEFA Champions League playoff return leg against Fenerbahçe on August 26.

Authorities are particularly concerned about potential clashes between ultras groups. The encounter has been classified as high-risk due to several factors: a substantial Turkish diaspora in Lyon, the expected arrival of numerous Turkish supporters, and recent historical context.

Ticket resale strictly prohibited

Since the draw was announced a week ago, Olympique Lyonnais has been working to control ticket distribution and minimize the presence of unaccompanied Turkish spectators. Starting late this morning, season ticket holders will have exclusive access to purchase tickets on the club’s website, with prices starting at €12 each. Each season ticket holder will be limited to four tickets for the August 26 fixture. The club will emphasize to all 26,000 season ticket holders that resale is strictly forbidden. They will be reminded that they face potential criminal liability if a ticket they purchased (all tickets are electronically tracked) is used by someone engaging in misconduct or violations within Groupama Stadium. Season ticket holders could also risk losing their membership without refund.

Following the initial exclusive period for season ticket holders, the club will open ticket sales to its regular supporters based on club records starting next Monday, subject to remaining availability. Through this deliberate tiered ticketing approach, Olympique Lyonnais aims to prevent spectators who recently acquired tickets for other matches from gaining access to the stands.
