Military serviceman files adultery charges in N’Djamena
A sensitive case involving marital infidelity has reached the courts of N’Djamena, where a military officer has pressed charges against his wife and her alleged partner for alleged adultery. The matter, which also involves a dispute over the return of the dowry, has been adjourned for deliberation after a prosecutor demanded strict punishment and the defense argued unjust marital neglect.
Absence from duty sparks domestic crisis
The military serviceman, deployed in the high-risk region of Lac-Tchad, had been separated from his family for an extended period due to operational duties. His wife and their three children remained in their shared home during his absence. Upon returning from mission, he found the house empty. Tracking his wife’s phone led him to N’Djamena’s Bakara district, where he discovered her living with a civilian man.
Confronting the couple, the officer immediately contacted law enforcement. Gendarmes intervened, arresting both individuals and transferring them to Klessoum detention center pending trial.
Defendant denies reconciliation amid legal battle
During questioning by investigators, the wife firmly declared her refusal to return to her husband, insisting she preferred the company of her new partner. This stance set the stage for a legal confrontation between the aggrieved military man and the couple accused of adultery.
Prosecutor seeks maximum penalties, dowry restitution
The prosecution presented a strong case, requesting the court impose the full force of the law on the accused pair and levy a fine of 100,000 CFA francs on each. Additionally, the military husband is demanding the restitution of his dowry, estimated at two million CFA francs.
Meanwhile, the defense team argued that the wife had endured significant emotional hardship due to prolonged neglect by her husband during his military service. They framed the situation as a consequence of unmet marital obligations rather than deliberate infidelity.
