Morocco and Gambia strengthen strategic alliance following Barrow’s key message to Rabat
Diplomatic relations between Morocco and Gambia have entered a new phase of cooperation in Rabat. The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, held a meeting this Thursday with his Gambian counterpart, Sering Modou Njie, who visited the Moroccan capital as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a letter authored by the Gambian president and directly addressed to King Mohammed VI, highlighting the close communication between the two heads of state.
Explicit gratitude for Morocco’s socio-economic support
Following the meeting, the Gambian foreign minister addressed the press to convey the gratitude of his government and people to the Alaouite monarch.
Njie praised Morocco’s sustained support for Gambia’s socio-economic development, noting that this commitment has translated into tangible outcomes through the signing of multiple bilateral agreements and the implementation of strategic projects that directly benefit the population. These joint initiatives are closely coordinated under the strategic guidance of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
A shared vision for stronger regional cooperation
During his remarks, the Gambian minister emphasized his country’s firm commitment to further strengthening cooperation across mutually beneficial sectors.
He stressed that current relations are not only excellent but also rooted in solid values of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual interest, reflecting the shared forward-looking vision of Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the well-being of both nations. This bilateral roadmap for partnership and regional growth aligns directly with the diplomatic priorities of Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad.
