Patrice Talon pledges unity in Benin’s first senate term
As the inaugural leader of Benin’s Senate for the 2026-2031 term, Patrice Talon delivered his inaugural address following his election this 6 August 2026.

Elected during a closed-door session on 6 August 2026, Patrice Talon will lead the inaugural Senate term alongside:
- Louis Vlavonou, former National Assembly president, elected as vice-president;
- Alassane Seidou, appointed as rapporteur;
- Adidjatou Mathys, serving as deputy rapporteur.
This leadership team is tasked with steering Benin’s upper house toward a future defined by collaboration and collective achievement.
