Peru backs Morocco’s autonomy plan and territorial integrity for Western Sahara
The incoming Peruvian government has pledged its unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces, as announced by the office of President-elect Keiko Fujimori.
This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Peru’s President-elect, Keiko Fujimori, and Morocco’s Ambassador to Peru, Amin Chaoudri, who presented a congratulatory message from His Majesty King Mohammed VI following her election victory.
The incoming government’s pledge to support Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces was underscored, the President-elect’s office confirmed. Additionally, Ms. Fujimori reaffirmed her full endorsement of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797, which recognizes the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the foundation for a lasting resolution to the regional dispute over Western Sahara.
In his congratulatory message, His Majesty King Mohammed VI conveyed his warmest congratulations to Ms. Fujimori, praising the trust placed in her by the Peruvian people to advance progress and prosperity.
Highlighting the strong ties between Morocco and Peru, rooted in deep friendship, mutual respect, and shared values, the King expressed his determination to work closely with the Peruvian President to elevate bilateral relations to a multidimensional partnership, benefiting both nations.
