President faure gnassingbé inspects operation koundjoaré security efforts in northern Togo

On May 7, 2026, President Faure Gnassingbé, who also serves as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, undertook a crucial assessment tour of the Operation Koundjoaré area in northern Togo. The primary goals of this deployment were to gauge the prevailing security landscape and to bolster the troops actively combating terrorist threats.

During this vital mission, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces participated in an operational briefing at the Command Post. Following this, he proceeded to the Tchamonga advanced outpost, a key strategic location within the overall security framework.

Addressing the soldiers deployed on the ground, President Gnassingbé commended their unwavering dedication and resolve in safeguarding the national territory. Furthermore, he issued fresh directives aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of the units stationed there.
