Kpomé, August 3, 2026 — In an ongoing effort to tackle the significant challenge of youth unemployment across Togo, authorities are embracing a practical strategy: transforming skilled trainees into thriving rural entrepreneurs. In Kpomé, a vibrant community within the Maritime region, fifty young individuals have achieved a crucial milestone, receiving essential equipment to immediately launch their agricultural and livestock ventures.
This pivotal equipment distribution, which took place on July 20 under the patronage of Dotsè Medjina, the Secretary-General of the Maritime Regional Governorate and representative of the governor, signifies the successful culmination of a three-month intensive professional training program focused on high-potential agropastoral trades.

A new paradigm: immediate equipment for sustained growth
A persistent obstacle in many professional integration programs is the post-training phase, where individuals gain valuable skills but lack the essential capital to launch an enterprise.
In Kpomé, this challenge has been directly addressed. Upon completing their training, beneficiaries are now equipped with comprehensive start-up kits. These include vital tools such as motor cultivators, efficient motor pumps, precise sprayers, quality seeds, fertilizers, electronic scales, durable fence rolls, advanced irrigation and water storage systems, sturdy wheelbarrows, and necessary construction materials.
The core objective is to empower these emerging producers to commence their operations without delay, eliminating the need to wait for additional funding that often hinders immediate progress.
Agropastoral: a powerful engine for rural job creation
The fifty recipients have undergone specialized training across several sectors deemed critical for rural development. The comprehensive program includes market gardening, poultry farming, the breeding of small ruminants, and pig production.
By furnishing these young entrepreneurs with appropriate tools and resources, the government aims to achieve a dual objective: fostering their financial independence while simultaneously bolstering local production and invigorating rural economies.

During the official ceremony, Dotsè Medjina underscored the significant responsibility accompanying this equipment provision. He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the tools with utmost diligence, ensuring the profitability and long-term viability of their agricultural and livestock operations.
Furthermore, he called upon these young individuals to fully embrace their roles, encouraging them to become proactive contributors to the economic development of their respective communities.
A national strategy for Togo’s food sovereignty
This initiative is an integral part of the « Formation-métier et accompagnement à l’insertion professionnelle » (Vocational Training and Professional Integration Support) project, which was launched in 2025 by the National Agency for Employment (ANPE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Resources, and Food Sovereignty.
Through this forward-thinking program, Togo aims to transcend purely theoretical training, moving towards an employment policy that prioritizes the creation of sustainable income-generating activities.
