World Vision Tchad’s groundbreaking 2026-2030 strategy targets 3.29 million children
In a landmark event held at N’Djamena’s Résidence Hotel, World Vision Tchad officially unveiled its ambitious five-year strategy for 2026-2030. The comprehensive plan aims to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the country, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable youngsters through integrated interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.
Nexus approach: weaving humanitarian aid with long-term development
The strategy’s cornerstone is the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus framework, which World Vision’s West Africa Regional Director, Carla Dominique Denizard, described as “bold and innovative.” During the launch ceremony attended by media, technical partners, financial backers, and national authorities, she emphasized that the approach creates vital connections between emergency relief, sustainable development initiatives, and peacebuilding efforts.
Denizard highlighted that the strategy aligns with both continental and global development frameworks, particularly the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 16). She stressed that the organization’s vision extends beyond mere survival, aiming for children to truly thrive in Chad’s challenging context.
Tchad’s children at the heart of transformation
World Vision Tchad’s National Director, Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, framed the strategy launch as a “historic milestone” for both the organization and the nation’s children. He revealed that the new roadmap represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear commitment to ensuring every child in Chad not only survives but flourishes.
Ngoy Wangoy painted a stark picture of the challenges facing Chad, where persistent poverty (affecting nearly 42% of the population), malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate change impacts create a perfect storm of vulnerability. The strategy responds with targeted interventions including:
- Integrated health and nutrition programs with special emphasis on maternal and child health
- Unlock Literacy initiative to build foundational reading skills in early education
- Comprehensive child protection measures against all forms of violence
- Community resilience strengthening against climate change effects
A call for unified action
Concluding the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership extended an urgent appeal to all national stakeholders. The organization is seeking collaboration with public authorities, technical partners, financial supporters, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to ensure the strategy’s successful implementation.
The collective mobilization, they argued, represents the only path to convert current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children. Through this ambitious 2026-2030 strategy, World Vision Tchad commits to actively contributing to the country’s Vision 2030 goals and the broader Sustainable Development Objectives, striving to create a nation where every child enjoys protection, proper nutrition, quality education, and the chance to reach their full potential.
