World Vision Tchad has rolled out a groundbreaking five-year strategy (2026-2030) designed to uplift the lives of 3.29 million children across the country, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. The initiative combines humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts to create lasting change.
N’Djamena hosts the launch event
The strategy was unveiled in N’Djamena during a high-profile press conference attended by national authorities, technical partners, financial backers, and media representatives. The event took place at the Residence Hotel, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s mission to safeguard and empower the nation’s youth.
A holistic approach to child welfare
Carla Dominique Denizard, West Africa Regional Director for World Vision, described the plan as “bold and visionary,” emphasizing its foundation on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This integrated approach bridges emergency relief with long-term development and conflict resolution efforts. “Every child in Chad deserves a life of opportunity, and achieving this requires strong partnerships, grassroots engagement, and a deep respect for local cultures and values,” she stated.
The strategy aligns with key continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s own Vision 2030. It prioritizes human capital development, social protection, climate resilience, literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and child protection initiatives.
National director outlines bold targets
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a “historic moment” for both the organization and the children of Chad. He highlighted that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear goal: ensuring that every child in Chad not only survives but thrives. “Our mission is simple yet ambitious—transforming the lives of 3.29 million children, including 3.09 million from the most marginalized communities,” he declared.
Chad faces persistent challenges, including deep-rooted poverty, chronic malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and the worsening impacts of climate change. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified support is urgent.
Strategic priorities for impact
The 2026-2030 strategy is built on four key pillars:
- Integrated health and nutrition: Strengthening maternal and child health services to combat malnutrition and improve overall well-being.
- Education and literacy: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to ensure foundational reading skills for early learners.
- Child protection: Safeguarding children from violence, exploitation, and harmful practices.
- Climate resilience: Empowering communities to adapt to environmental changes and reduce vulnerability.
A call for collective action
Following the strategy’s unveiling, World Vision Tchad’s leadership urged all national stakeholders—government agencies, development partners, civil society groups, religious and community leaders, and the media—to collaborate closely. “Achieving this vision demands a united front,” they emphasized. “By pooling resources and expertise, we can turn today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities for Chad’s children.”
The strategy positions World Vision Tchad as a key player in realizing the country’s Vision 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to build a nation where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
