The swearing-in ceremony, presided over by Secretary-General André Noël Essian, marked the official entry into office of more than 20 high-ranking officials recently appointed by President Théodore Datouo.

Conducted during the opening of the second ordinary session of the 2026 legislative year, the ceremony formalized the appointment of these senior cadres within the Assembly’s quæsture and general secretariat. Upon completion, the nominees assumed their new roles in the country’s highest representative body.

Since his election as President of the National Assembly in March, Théodore Datouo has overseen multiple appointments. However, these decisions have sparked controversy, with critics arguing that regional balance was not adequately considered in the selection process.
