Local authorities in Abéché have taken decisive action against illegal meat processing by dismantling an unregulated slaughterhouse in the Farik Aguek district. The operation, carried out under the supervision of municipal officials, marks another step toward improving public hygiene and ensuring food safety across the region.
The crackdown was led by Hissein Hassan Tabit, assistant to the delegated administrator of the first arrondissement. Inspectors discovered multiple livestock carcasses during the raid, revealing blatant disregard for health and regulatory standards governing animal slaughter. The site operated without any official authorization, posing serious risks to public health.
Municipal authorities emphasized that all livestock must be processed in certified facilities to maintain sanitary conditions and prevent contamination. They also warned that further inspections will be conducted to clamp down on any unauthorized meat production that could endanger consumer safety.
