Gabon economic forum boosts private sector growth ambition

« Our ambition is clear: the Gabonese Employers’ Federation must not only champion business interests but actively propel economic success. »

These were the words of Alain Claude Kouakoua, President of the Gabonese Employers’ Federation (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF). The event took place on June 27, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès.

The GEF serves as a vital platform where policymakers and international partners converge to tackle Gabon’s pressing economic challenges head-on.

In his pragmatic address, Kouakoua emphasized that no nation achieves prosperity without robust private enterprises. « Business is not a peripheral actor; it is the driving force behind development. »

The Vice President of Gabon, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, echoed this commitment to private sector growth. « The state will fulfill its obligations by ensuring public finances are stabilized, enabling timely settlements with private enterprises. »

This forum underscores a shared vision: fostering a diversified economy that reduces reliance on raw materials and accelerates industrialization. The dialogue at the GEF is not just theoretical—it’s a strategic roadmap to economic resilience for Gabon.
