History was made at the Union du Peuple Gabonais (UPG) as Marie Joselle Itsana stepped into the spotlight as the party’s new leader. On a pivotal Thursday in late June 2026, delegates gathered in Libreville for an extraordinary Congress that would redefine the political landscape. After a tightly contested vote, Itsana emerged victorious with 23 votes against Roger Mouloungui’s 20, securing her place as the first woman to lead the historic party.
