Paris Saint-Germain are set for a busy transfer window as they look to bolster Luis Enrique‘s squad following their second consecutive UEFA Champions League triumph. The French capital club had explored multiple avenues to regenerate their roster, with Julian Alvarez emerging as a prime target. However, their interest in the Argentine forward appears to have cooled significantly.
The pursuit of Julian Alvarez has proven particularly elusive for the PSG. Despite initial enthusiasm, club officials have reportedly shifted their focus elsewhere after learning of the forward’s strong preference for a move to Barcelona. The Argentine international, who is currently competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with his national team, has made his ambitions clear, leaving Paris with little room for maneuver.
Paris stalls in Alvarez chase
PSG had been engaged in simultaneous negotiations for other attacking options, including Kang-In Lee and Gonçalo Ramos from Atlético Madrid. Their strategy involved leveraging potential departures to facilitate a deal for Alvarez. Yet, the Argentine’s stance has effectively closed that chapter. According to insider reports, Barcelona remains his top destination, with PSG now relegated to secondary status in his transfer plans.
Arsenal joins fray but hits same wall
Arsenal had also entered the fray, attempting to pry Alvarez away from Atlético Madrid. However, their overtures met with the same response as those from the French side. With both clubs now facing a dead end, the focus shifts to Atlético Madrid’s decision-making process. For PSG, the Alvarez track appears increasingly unlikely, though a last-minute reversal cannot be entirely ruled out in the coming weeks.
