Cameroon’s Commerce Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana has launched a sweeping consumer goods promotion to bring down prices in Yaoundé.

The initiative, set to run from June 22 to September 30, 2026, at the Boulevard du 20 Mai, is a direct response to rising living costs. Partnering with local businesses, the campaign aims to ease the financial burden on households during the peak summer break and back-to-school season.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Commerce explained that the program aligns with government efforts to stabilize prices and protect purchasing power. It will also support parents preparing for the 2026-2027 school year by making school supplies more affordable.

Minister Atangana emphasized that while the campaign begins in Yaoundé and surrounding areas, it will expand nationwide through mobile promotional caravans, ensuring broader access to discounted essentials.
